Rajshahi City Mayor pays homage to the Father of the Nation at Tungipara

Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, paid homage at the tomb of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj. Khairuzzaman Liton, also a member of the newly elected Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League, laid wreaths at Bangabandhu’s mausoleum on Wednesday afternoon (December 01, 2021.) along with party leaders.  

Later, he stood in solemn silence in honor of Bangabandhu, the great architect of our independence. After the wreath-laying, prayers were offered for the souls of Bangabandhu and all the martyrs of his family.

Praying respects to the Father of the Nation, Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said, “I am overwhelmed that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the Father of the Nation, has nominated me as the presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League, the oldest and the largest political party of the subcontinent. I will try my level best to discharge my responsibilities with utmost integrity.”

Present on the occasion were Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Ali Kamal, Acting President, Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League; Md. Dablu Sarkar, General Secretary; Prof. Mansur Rahman, MP, Rajshahi-5 (Puthia-Durgapur) constituency. Adiba Anjum Mita, MP, Reserved Women’s Seat, were also present.

AHM Khairzan, Presidium Member, Awami League along with leaders and activists of district and metropolitan Juba League, Swechchhasebak League, Chhatra League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Jatiya Sramik League and other associated organizations laid wreaths at the grave of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

AHM Khairuzzaman Liton also laid wreaths at the grave of Bangabandhu along with counselors, officials and employees of Rajshahi City Corporation. Other counselors, including Sariful Islam Babu, Panel Mayor-1 of City Corporation and Counselor of ward 12; ABM Sharif Uddin, CEO, Rajshahi City Corporation; Md. Mashiur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Development Wing, Ministry of Home Affairs as well as departmental and branch leaders, officials and employees were present.
