Bangladesh on Wednesday saw an alarming growth in the number of Covid-19 cases as 5,358 people were diagnosed with the disease in 24 hours which is the highest in a single day till date.
The number of cases now stands at 611,295, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, the country reported 52 more deaths, the highest daily figure since 26 August from the novel coronavirus.
Earlier on 26 August, the health department reported 54 deaths from the dreaded virus.
Fatalities from the coronavirus infection have surpassed the grave 9,000 marks in the country.
