Reign of terror to prevail if offenders go unpunished

Denouncing the attack on Ganosanghati Andolan Coordinator Zonayed Saki, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader on Wednesday warned that a reign of terror will get hold in the country if the offenders are spared on political considerations.

“Legal action must be taken against the attackers based on an investigation. If the terrorists are spared on political considerations, a reign of terror will be established in the country,” he said.

In a statement, the Jatiya Party Chief bemoaned that Saki was subjected to a terror attack during his visit to Chattogram Medical College Hospital to see the injured from the deadly fire at Sitakunda depot.

Expressing his displeasure, Quader said such a nasty attack on politicians cannot be accepted. “The attack on Zonayed Saki has proved that criminalization of politics is going on in the country. Politics can never bow down to criminalization.”

He said Jatiya Party has always been in favour of terrorism-free politics.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, Saki and some other leaders and activists of his party were injured in an attack allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Saki alleged that some BCL men attacked them after they visited the fire victims at CMCH.
