BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi received a warm welcome when visited the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka on Sunday for the first time in 145 days, following his release from prison on April 25.
Party leaders and over a hundred of his admirers had gathered at the office to give Rizvi a rousing reception after nearly five months of incarceration.
Upon his arrival at the office around noon, party leaders and activists welcomed Rizvi with flowers and slogans, demonstrating their support and enthusiasm for his return.
BNP Assistant Office Secretary Munir Hossain said Rizvi returned to the Naya Paltan office after 145 days, and he is very happy.
Hundreds of BNP leaders and activists were seen eagerly waiting for Rizvi’s arrival since Sunday morning. As Rizvi exited his vehicle, party leaders chanted slogans and later held a procession from the City Heart Building to the central office.
Rizvi then proceeded to his office on the third floor of the building.
Several prominent BNP leaders, including Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan and Executive Committee Member Tariqul Alam Tenzing, greeted Rizvi with flowers and conveyed their best wishes.
Rizvi and more than 400 leaders and activists of BNP were arrested in a police raid on the party’s Naya Paltan central office on December 7 last year, three days before the party’s much-talked-about rally in the capital.
