‘Brahmi to Bangla’, an exhibition by prominent painter and designer Sabyasachi Hazra, was launched on 14 June 2022 along with the launching of his book titled, অ- In the Quest of Bangla Typography’ at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka, a press release said Wednesday.
The exhibition will remain open for the visitors till 25 June 2022, from 3 pm to 9 pm except Sunday. The exhibition was supported by IPDC Finance, while the book was jointly published by Kathaprokash and Nokta.
Prof. Shishir Bhattacharjee, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka; Enamul Karim Nirjhar, architect and filmmaker; andprominent actor Afzal Hossainattended the event as the honourable guests.The exhibition represents the theme of the book, which is based on the discovery of the practical and aesthetic aspects of standard Bengali letters from a typographic perspective.
Sabyasachi Hazra said, “My book is based on the printed Bengali letters. The circulation of standard Bangla font has been given significant prominence in the book. ” He further said, “Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar has inspired me immensely and I would like to dedicate this book in his memory.”
The famous painter has initiated the exhibition and publication to commemorate 70 years of the Bengali Language Movement, 50 years of the independenceand the bicentennial of the legendary Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.
