Saudi Arabia’s food basket distribution programme kicks off in Dhaka

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Bangladesh held theopening ceremony of the "Food basket distribution project in Bangladesh" on Tuesday. The Sunbulah Welfare Association of Bangladesh is implementing the project financed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KS Relief), says a press release. The distribution of a total of 15860 food baskets will start today. The food aids will be distributed in 23 districts of the country. The districts are Dhaka, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Tangail, Nilplramari, Bogura, Noakhali, Bagerhat, Gopalganj, Pirozpur, Pabna, Barguna, Jessore, Rangpur, Naogaon, Khulna, Cox's Bazar, Lalmonirhat, Chapainawabganj, Gazipur, Bhola, Cumilla and Munsiganj. Each of the food baskets will contain – 10 kilogramme of rice, seven kg of lentil, three litter of edible oil, one kg of salt, and three kg of sugar.

The programme held at the embassy was chaired by Ambassador of the embassy Eessa bin Yusuf Al Dohailan.

The ambassador in his speech said he believed that this programme had built a bridge between the people of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia to deepen their mutual relationship.

Chairman and CEO of Sunbulah Welfare Association of Bangladesh Dr Mohammad Shakir Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

Ahmad Bin Saleh Arremah, Khalid Bin Abdur Rahman Raji, Abdur Rahman Alzeben, Abdur Rahman Almigren and Naser Alsaeed from Saudi Arabia were also present.
