The local administration has imposed prohibitory order in Central Shaheed Minar and Mujib Chattar area of Dhunat Upazila in the district as two factions of the Bangladesh Chhatra League called a meeting there at the same time.
Dhunat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanjay Mohonta declared the emergency order through a loudspeaker on Wednesday to maintain law and order situation.
The prohibitory order will remain in force till 8 pm on Thursday night.
All kinds of public gatherings, rally and procession have been prohibited within 400 meters of the area apprehending possible clash.
Sub-inspector Ruhul Amin of Dhunat Police Station said they have heard sound explosions at the Shaheed Minar and Mujib Chatttar area but it is still not clear what caused the blasts.
Earlier, a clash erupted between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League centering the recent municipality election. Two separate cases were filed in this connection.
Abu Saleh, general secretary of Dhunat Upazila Chhatra League, called a meeting at Shaheed Minar around 11 am protesting the case filed over the clash.
Meanwhile, Russel Khandaker, a leader of the municipality unit Chhatra League, called another meeting at the same venue, which forced the administration to announce prohibitory order.
