Sheikh Mujib a champion of human rights, freedom: Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a champion of human rights and freedom.

“My heartfelt homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a champion of human rights and freedom, on his birth anniversary,” Modi tweeted on Wednesday.

He also addressed Bangabandhu as a hero for all Indians, too.

“It will be my honor to visit Bangladesh later this month for the historic Mujib Borsho celebrations,” said the Indian Prime Minister.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Independence and in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu, India will donate 109 ambulances to Bangladesh during PM Modi’s visit.

Sylhet will also get four of the ambulances, disclosed Indian High Commissioner Vikram Duraiswamy when he met Bangladesh Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen on Tuesday.
