Strict action if election officials behave partially: EC Anisur

Election Commissioner (EC) Md Anisur Rahman has said if any government official shows biased behaviour during the election, strict actions will be taken against them.

“The Election Commission has taken all necessary preparations to ensure the upcoming 12th parliamentary election is free and fair,” he said in response to journalists’ questions after a meeting on Friday afternoon.

“Everyone in the government is now working under the Election Commission. We are conducting the election work properly with everyone involved. Our only directive is to conduct a free, fair, and acceptable election. This must be done for the nation, the country, our existence, and the economy. There is no alternative,” he added.

The election commissioner added that they are set to present a good election as a gift on January 7.

He further said: “There will be no problem if someone tries to cast a fake vote forcefully. Because if the assistant presiding officer does not sign paper, it will be considered invalid. The army will start working on the field from December 29.”

The 12th national polls is scheduled to be held on January 7.
