Tajul seeks cooperation of all to make Dhaka livable

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam Wednesday urged all to come forward towards making the Dhaka city livable for all.

He made the call while speaking at the inaugural session of the five-day REHAB Fair-2022 in the capital showcasing apartments, land and other real estate and housing products and services.

The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) arranged the fair at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

Speaking as the chief guest, Tajul said the gazette of Detailed Area Plan (DAP) has already been issued to make Dhaka city livable.

“I have seen concern from many regarding the reduction of floors in DAP. Everyone’s reasonable demands will be considered,” he said.

Asking everyone to come forward toward building a planned Dhaka, the minister said: “I did not do any partiality as the president of DAP. I am not taking a stand against anyone. If something is needed to do for the welfare of the country, I will definitely do it. We will do it by calculating what will be Dhaka’s population after 50 years”.

He hoped that the contribution of REHAB is very important in fulfilling the dream of accommodations of the people of the whole country, including Dhaka.

Chaired by REHAB president Alamgir Shamsul Alamin, the function was attended, among others, by REHAB vice-presidents Kamal Mahmud, Shohel Rana and Abdul Quaiyyum Chowdhury.

According to the fair organisers, a total of 180 housing and land developers, including 16 building materials companies, and 13 financial institutions are showcasing their products and services at 180 stalls at the fair, which will continue till December 28.

Like previous years, this year there are two types of tickets at the fair. One is a single entry and the other is multiple entries. The single ticket entry fee is Tk 50 while entrance fee for multiple entry tickets is Tk 100.
