Taka 52,500 fined for mixing chemical with shrimp in Khulna

A mobile team has fined Taka 52,500 to five dishonest traders in Rupsha Upazila here on charges of mixing chemical (jelly) in the shrimp yesterday, RAB officials said here Tuesday .

Acting on a secret information, a special team of the RAB-6 led by executive magistrate and assistant commissioner of the district administration Md Al Amin went on an operation from 5.00pm to 8.00pm yesterday at village Jabusa Modhyapara under Rupsha upazila in the district.

The executive magistrate realized Taka 35,000 from Salma Begum, Taka 5,000 each from Alauddin Gazi and Md Rana, Taka 4,500 from Md Babu Sheikh and Taka 3,000 from Md Mamun as fine for mixing harmful chemical (jelly) to shrimp, the release added.

RAB members also destroyed 100 kilograms of chemical that was brought here to mix it with shrimp, 10 kgs of mixed chemical, two kgs of jelly powder and huge injecting syringe in presence of the executive magistrate and Senior Fisheries Officer of Rupsha upazila here, the release mentioned.
