BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday urged the government to take necessary measures to protect the lives, livelihoods, and property of those affected by the floods in the eastern and southeastern districts of the country.
In a message posted on his verified Facebook page, he also urged leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated bodies to offer humanitarian relief to help alleviate the suffering of flood victims.
The BNP leader said devastating flash floods have hit the eastern and southeastern districts of Bangladesh, leaving hundreds of thousands of people stranded in numerous villages.
“I urge the government to take necessary steps to safeguard families, livelihoods, and property in those districts,” he said.
“I also call upon leaders and activists across all levels of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to support the affected people with humanitarian relief, including shelter, food, and logistics,” Tarique’s social media post reads.
He said everyone must always stand by each other in times of crisis, upholding humanity.
