A delegation of former military officers, led by Maj Gen Fazle Elahi Akbar, visited the house of slain Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjon in Tangail to console the bereaved family on behalf of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday.
Lt Tanjim was stabbed to death by robbers during a raid to recover illegal firearms in Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria upazila early Tuesday.
The former military officers on behalf of Tarique Rahman expressed deep sympathy to Tanjim’s family members at Korer Betka village in Korotia union of Tangail Sadar upazila.
Then the visiting delegation and the party leaders offered prayers at the grave of the martyred army officer and placed a wreath at his grave.
The delegation include Lt Col (Retd) Shamsuzzaman Khan, Lt Col (Retd) Md Siddiqur Rahman, Lt Col (Retd) Saidul Alam, Lt Col (Retd) Md Rashed Ali. Maj (Retd) Syed Abu Bakar Siddique and Maj (Retd) Md Golam Mannan Chowdhury.
Local BNP leaders including the party’s Tangail district unit president and secretary Hasannuzzamil Sahin and Farhad Iqbal were present.
