Teachers and employees of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Sunday demanded resignation of the Vice-Chancellor Dr Mihir Ranjan Halder and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Sobhan Mia on charge of different allegations including non cooperation with anti-discrimination students movement.
They also demanded to begin all academic activities immediately.
The general teachers-employees made the demand in a protest meeting at the Shaheed Minar of KUET campus after parading different streets in the campus. The procession was begun from KUET administrative building and ended at the Shaheed Minar premises.
Among others, KUET Prof Dr Aftab Hossain, Prof Dr M A Hashem, Prof Dr Shahjahan and Prof Razia Khatun addressed the meeting. Most of the teachers including acting VC of KUET Prof Dr Sayedul Islam, Prof Dr Habibur Rahman, Prof Dr Golam Kader, Prof Dr Md Helal An-Nahian, Prof Mahmudul Alam and officers and employees were present.
Terming existing VC and Pro-VC are the supporters of fascism and non cooperation with anti-discrimination students’ movement, the speakers said, we are expressing regret to the students and beg pardon to them.
Speakers gave an ultimatum to the VC and Pro-VC for their resignation within next 48 hours as the duo are at large since the AL government ousting and both of students-teachers are waiting for opening academic activities.
They also threatened in dire consequence for his quick resignation otherwise he will be prohibited in the campus as well as to declare persona non-grata, they announced.
