The schedule of the 12th National Assembly elections will be announced on Wednesday. Earlier, the election commission led by Kazi Habibul Awal sat in a meeting to decide the polling day. Besides, the deadline for submission of nomination papers, last day for selection, withdrawal and voting date will be finalized in the 26th meeting of the Election Commission.
The Election Commission held a meeting before 5 pm on Wednesday (November 15). The meeting is being held in the office of the Chief Election Commissioner.
In the meeting, Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Ahsan Habib Khan, Rasheda Sultana, Md. Alamgir and Md. Anishur Rahman and EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam is present.
After this meeting Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal will address the nation on BTV after 7 pm. It is assumed that he will make an announcement regarding the schedule in this speech. A four-page speech has already been prepared for this purpose.
Meanwhile, security has been strengthened around the capital’s Agargaon election hall based on the announcement of the schedule. Traffic has been restricted on some roads. Additional members of the law and order force have been deployed around the polling station.
Although the Awami League is ready to welcome the schedule for the 12th parliamentary elections, opposition parties including the BNP are opposing the announcement of the schedule. The security of the Election Commission building has been strengthened so that no untoward incident takes place around the announcement of the schedule.
Before this, President Md. Bangabhaban last November 9. The chief election commissioner met Sahabuddin and took permission to announce the election schedule. CEC Kazi Habibul Awal while talking to the journalists after the meeting said, “We are determined to hold the election on time.” The schedule of parliamentary elections will be announced soon. Apart from this, the CEC also met the Chief Justice on the schedule issue.
The EC has finalized the 300 seat-wise voter list for the 12th National Assembly elections. According to this list, the parliamentary elections will be held. 11 crore 96 lakh 91 thousand 633 voters will vote in this election. Among them, 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 male voters, 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 female voters and 852 third gender voters.
