Tuku, Palak and Saikat remanded for 10 days

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed former deputy speaker of the parliament Shamsul Haque Tuku, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and general secretary of Chhatra League’s Dhaka University unit Tanvir Hasan Saikat on a 10-day remand each in a murder case filed at Dhaka’s Paltan Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam passed the order after police produced them in the court and sought the remand this afternoon.

No lawyers represented either of them, said Jalal Uddin, sub-inspector (SI) of CMM court.

Earlier on Wednesday night, police arrested them from the capital’s Nikunja residential area.

According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, they were hiding in the residential area.

Tipped-off, police arrested them in a murder case filed at Paltan police station.
