Two held with 10kg heroin in C’nawabganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two alleged top-listed drug peddlers with 10 kilograms of heroin in Chapainawabganj district on Thursday morning.

The arrestees were Shariful Islam alias Dhulu Mian, 50, son of late Nasim Uddin and his son Mominul Islam of Jaira Moral village under Sadar Upazila in Chapainawabganj district.

Lt Col Riaz Shahrier, commanding officer of RAB-5, informed this to the journalists a press briefing at his office in the afternoon.

He said acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden search in a bamboo orchard adjacent to the residence of the arrested persons and recovered the drugs. Later, they arrested the accused persons.

He said this is the ever-biggest heroin recovery in the last two years.

Meanwhile, so far, they have recovered 83 kilograms of heroin.

A case was recorded with Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized contraband items were handed over to the police.
