Unilever Consumer Limited (UCL) has taken an emergency humanitarian initiative to provide essential relief to flood affected families in Sylhet areas to mitigate their financial challenges and improve livelihood conditions. The relief comes as a support to tackle the recent downpour that caused negative effects on local economies and the livelihoods of the affected people.
The flood relief consisted of 1,000 packs of essential supplies that will help affected families to foster community resilience and enhance their financial support. A dedicated team from UCL oversaw the relief distribution with support from Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), a non-profit, nonpolitical, voluntary organization as the execution partner.
Floods have historically affected people of the Sylhet region. The current crisis has caused suffering of over a million people, with thousands seeking refuge in flood shelters as more villages and towns remain submerged. In these trying times, sustaining livelihood remains a grave challenge for the affected families. Through this initiative, UCL fosters its tradition of fulfilling societal responsibility to strengthen community spirit and boost employee involvement in positive actions.
