UMCH, Channel 24 hold “Women on Progress”

12 enlightened women were awarded “Women on the Path of Progress” in a joint initiative of Universal Medical College Hospital (UMCH) and Channel 24 for their contribution in various fields, a press release said Sunday.

Zakia Sultana, senior secretary of the Ministry of Industry, was present as the guest in this event held on March 9 at the banquet hall of Channel 24 at 5 pm. In her speech, she said, “Participation of men and women in society, state and family development is an essential condition for development. As a result of the multifaceted steps taken by the government to establish Digital Bangladesh, Bangladesh is a pioneer in the Digital Bangladesh initiative, social safety net program and Sustainable Development Goals indicators through the use of technology at the grassroots level of the country. At the root of this success is the huge investment in the development and empowerment of women. In continuation of this, I applaud the organization of this honor program titled ‘Women on the Path of Progress’ by UMCH. That it is not just a private hospital is evident through their regular social activities. I hope the hospital authorities will organize such thoughtful programs regularly in the future as well.”

Shahina Khatun, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources, Education Department, Department of Biodiversity, Dhaka University, received honors in the ceremony. Savita Rezwana Rahman, Uttara University VC Professor Dr. Yasmin Ara on Education Extension, Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Brigadier General (retd) Professor Dr. Anjuman Ara Begum on Medical Services, Khulna Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonali Sen on Law and Order, Supreme Court Advocate on Legal Services Department Barrister Miti Sanjana, Chairperson of Arcasia Committee on Social Responsibility of Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) Farhana Sharmin Emu, Associate Professor of Music, Jagannath University in Music (Rabindra Sangeet) Dr. Anima Roy, Nazrul Sangeet Artist Jannate Romman Tithi of The Financial Express in Media Special representative Daulat Akhtar Mala, popular actress Sabila Noor in the entertainment category and Rebecca Sharmin, Head of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, Nestlé Bangladesh PLC in the corporate sector were present.

Apart from this, four employees of Ha-Meem Group were also honored. Dr. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of the hospital in his welcome address said, “Though UMCH is a private hospital, social responsibility is one of the characteristics of this hospital. Apart from providing advanced medical services for a long time, we are heavily involved in various social activities including women awards, maternity awards, education scholarships.”

Ha-Meem Group Managing Director AK Azad MP, Hospital Chairman and FBCCI Director Preeti Chakraborty, CIP, Channel 24 CEO Tarun Chakraborty Fiju, Executive Director Talat Mamun were also present as guests on the occasion. In the speech, they all praised the contribution of women in the society and highlighted their immense potential. He believes that if women continue to move forward in this way, the country and the nation will progress on the path of development and progress. They also expressed their confidence that such programs will be jointly organized in front of Universal Medical College Hospital and Channel 24. Also, leading people from different sections of society, media personalities, doctors and officials of Universal Medical College Hospital and Hamim Group were present in this event. Music was performed by Mimi Alauddin, Close-up One star Vandana in a delightful cultural event. Najrana Mayurakshi, a student at UMCH, performed the dance.
