UN special rapporteur condemns killing of Bangabandhu

Felipe González Morales, UN special rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, has strongly condemned the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975.

He made this condemnation in a meeting held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid with Mohammad Sarwar Mahmud, ambassador of Bangladesh to Spain, on Friday. Morales will pay an official visit to Bangladesh on January 20-31.

According to a press release by the embassy, Morales said the recording of the Concert for Bangladesh held at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 1971 in his personal collection is a precious souvenir of his passion for Bangladesh. He also visited the Bangabandhu Corner located at the embassy.
