The newly elected chairmen of Union Parishad have been urged to reach the urban facilities to the rural ones through discharging their respective duties with utmost sincerity and honesty.
Role of the UP chairmen is very important towards improving the living and livelihood conditions of the grassroots populations. So, there is no alternative to perform their duties competently.
The views were expressed at the opening ceremony of a three-day training workshop titled “Sensitization on UP” held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office here today.
National Institute of Local Government (NILG) and District Administration are jointly hosting the training aimed at giving an idea about UP and its activities to the newly elected chairman.
NILG Director Abu Bakar Siddique conducted the training as focal person, while DC Abdul Jalil was in the chair. Deputy Director of the Local Government Division Shahana Akter Jahan and UP Chairman Belal Uddin Sohel also spoke.
Abu Bakar Siddique said Union Parishad is an important tier of the local government and the government reaches all its services to the grassroots population through the UP.
He added that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has a commitment of building a poor and hunger free golden Bangladesh through ensuring food and shelter to every one of the people. The premier has also been working to reach urban privileges to the villages.
Bakar Siddique urged the attending chairmen to supplement the premier’s endeavor through performing their duties properly.
He also urged them to properly utilize the knowledge supposed to be acquired from the training in their practical field. As a whole, the training will be very important towards enriching their knowledge related to responsibility and discipline, he added.
