Wahidul, Masud elected president, general secretary of BTTC

The newly launched Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Council (BTTC) has elected Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of the Bangladesh Monitor, and Masud Hussain, managing director of Bengal Tours Ltd, as its president and secretary respectively.

The election of 17 members of the council was held at the InterContinental Dhaka on December 4, said a press release.

Imran Asif, CEO, Air Astra; and Shakawath Hossain, CEO, Unique Hotel and Resorts; were elected as vice presidents, while Rezwan Maruf, director, Sales and Marketing of InterContinental Dhaka, and Asif Ahmed, acting general manager of Pan Pacific Sonargaon,  as joint secretary and treasurer respectively.

Other members of the newly elected executive committee are Shahid Hamid, acting managing director of Regency Hotel and Resorts; Nasser Rahman, managing director of Dusai Resorts and Spa ;  Akhteruzzaman Khan Kabir, former CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board; Faruq M Ahmed, travel writer;  Dr Rubina Hossain, managing director of the  Institute of  Hotel Management and Hospitality; Prof Mujib U Ahmed, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Dhaka University; Ishtiaquddin Ahmed, former conservator of forests; Basudev Bhattacharya, former principal,  National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute; Sadia Haque, Co-founder and CEO, Sharetrip; Taufiq Rahman CEO, Journey Plus; and Syed Ghulam Qadir, US Bangla Airlines.
