Youth killed in Gaibandha clash

A youth, who sustained injuries in a clash with his rivals over previous enmity at Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha district on Monday (January 8), died at a hospital in Rangpur on Sunday (January 14).

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam, 25, son of Hafizur Rahman, a resident of Khamar Dhubni village under Shantiram union of the upazila.

According to locals, there had been a loggerhead between Nur Alam and one Khusi Mia over a land dispute. As sequel to it, Khusi Mia along with his cohorts attacked the victim when he went to irrigate the land on Monday (January 8) afternoon, leaving him critically injured.

Family members rescued him and took to Gaibandha General Hospital where the physicians referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. He then, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital around 8am on Sunday.

Sundarganj Police Station OC Mahbub Alam Rana confirmed the death matter, adding that a case was filed with the police station and legal action would be taken in this regard.
