A young man was reportedly shot to death and another injured by miscreants in Khulna city on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the evening in front of Ahsan Ullah College at Maylapota Mor in the city.
The victim was Sadiukur Rahman Rana alias Bihari Rana, 36, son of Sheikh Mohammad Islam, hailed from Bihari Colony in Ferighat area of the city. There were several cases against him. He was recently released from jail on bail.
The injured Palash was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
According to police and locals, Rana, Palash and one Niloy were drinking tea in the evening. Meanwhile, Rana abused someone over mobile phone. After some time, some miscreants suddenly started firing at them. Rana was shot and died on the spot.
Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Police Commissioner Rashida Begum said that it was not yet confirmed who fired and why.
