Awami League has declared the names of its candidates for the upcoming 12th parliamentary election, slated for 7 January, on Sunday afternoon.
Obaidul Quader, Awami League general secretary, started announcing the names at the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka in a press conference.
Earlier in the day, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sat with all the nomination aspirants of her party to share polls strategy with them and give them necessary directives.
As many as 3,362 nomination aspirants attended the meeting at Ganabhaban.
The ruling party sold nomination forms at its central office from 18 November to 21 November. The meeting of the Parliamentary Nomination Board started on 23 November to finalise the candidates. Follow our live coverage on the event.
