BNP leader Salahuddin moved to ICU

BNP’s Commerce Affairs Secretary and former lawmaker Salahuddin Ahmed has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

The BNP leader was moved from the coronary care unit (CCU) to the ICU around 3 am today as his condition deteriorated, Shamsuddin Didar, a member of the BNP chairperson’s media wing, confirmed.

Salahuddin Ahmed was admitted to the CCU of BSMMU around 11 am on Monday after he complained of breathing difficulty. Besides, he has developed heart failure since 7 pm yesterday and his blood pressure is fluctuating, Shamsuddin Didar added.

The former BNP lawmaker has been suffering from various ailments, including pneumonia.

On October 4, he was admitted to the CCU of BSMMU as per the recommendation of physicians, said Md Mahabubul Alam, jailer of Dhaka Central Jail.

Later, he was shifted to the prison annex of the hospital.

Detectives arrested Salahuddin Ahmed from Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on August 3. He was arrested in cases filed over the clash during a sit-in programme in Jatrabari.
