The nomination paper of the independent candidate for Rajshahi-1 constituency actress Mahiya Mahi has been cancelled.
Returning Officer and Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed made the announcement after scrutinizing her nomination paper.
He said the nomination of Mahi was cancelled as we found a discrepancy in the voter list of 1 percent given by the candidate with the nomination paper.
Mahi could not be reached over phone for her comment regarding this matter.
According to the Representation of the People Order, 1972, in the case of an independent candidate, should need to provide a list of signatures of one percent of electors of the constituency concerned.
It is mentionable that, the voting to the 12th parliamentary election will be held on 7 January next year.
