Bangabandhu, Bangamata Gold Cup Football tournament ends in Khulna

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament boys (U-17) and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football Tournament girls (U-17) ended on Sunday afternoon with a prize giving ceremony at Khulna Divisional Women Sports complex.

Khulna District Administration and District Sports Office jointly organized the closing ceremony.

Chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md Nazmul Hossain Khan, the closing ceremony of the Bangabandhu and Bangamata National Gold Cup Football Tournament were addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Divisional Sports Association S M Mortaza Rashidi Dara,

President of District Football Association Advocate Md. Saiful Islam and Deputy Director of Divisional National Sports Council of Khulna and Barisal Md. Abul Hossain Howladar.

The speakers said sports are necessary for physical fitness and for the sound mind and students should play sports regularly side by side with their studies.

“Football is a popular game all over the world including Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina likes all kind of sports and is trying to give us all necessary support to develop football so that we can qualify in the FIFA World Cup Football in future,” they added.

The speakers called upon the parents to encourage the boys and girls in sports.

In the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament Boys (U-17), Sonadanga- Labancharathana football team got the champion trophy and Daulatpur-Harintana thana in the city was the runner-up.

In the Bangmata Gold Cup Football Tournament Girls (U-17), Champion Sonadanga-Labanchara football team got champion trophy and Khulna Sadar- Harintana Thana football team was the runner-up.

Besides, Paikgacha Upazila Football Team was the champion while Dakop Upazila Football Team was the runner-up at district level.

Mentionable, Divisional Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament Boys (U-17) and Bangamata Gold Cup Football Tournament Girls (U-17) will start on October 25.
