Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is going to appoint two female umpires for the first time in the history of the country’s cricket.
The matter of appointing Sathira Zakir Jesi and Mishu Chowdhury was confirmed at the board meeting held on Saturday.
Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu, chairman of the BCB Umpires’ Committee, confirmed the matter on Sunday.
He said, “The procedure for their appointment will be completed within a week. First, they will be added as trainee umpires. They will begin their assignments with the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL).”
A total of 26 umpires are currently under BCB’s contract, he added.
