The Hongkong Shanghai Bank (HSBC) Bangladesh, in partnership with DNCC and Bangladesh Badminton Federation, is organizing HSBC-Mayor’s Cup School Badminton-2023.
Students from schools across Dhaka are gathering at Banani Kamal Ataturk Playground for the three-day long competition.
The tournament is going to provide an opportunity for budding badminton players from different English and Bangla medium schools to showcase their skills and compete against each other in a friendly and fun environment.
The three-day tournament is open to school students of grades 9 to 12 who registered for this tournament.
In total 19 schools from Dhaka City is participating in the tournament.
With a strong focus on sportsmanship and fair play, the event aims to provide a great opportunity for students to hone their badminton skills while learning the importance of leadership and respect.
“Badminton or sports, in general, is a vital element to ensuring both physical and mental development of individuals. Engagement in sports helps our youth force to grow up as responsible adults and contribute to a healthy society. DNCC is proud to be a partner of this tournament,” said Atiqul Islam, the mayor of DNCC.

HSBC’s active alliance with Badminton World Federation season-ending events since 2018 reflects its deep commitment to promoting the game at all levels and inspiring future generations to take up the sport worldwide.
The HSBC-Mayor’s Cup School Badminton Tournament is a sincere attempt for providing young athletes- a platform to showcase their skills and enthusiasm and open up a world of opportunities.
The finale of the tournament will take place at the same venue on February 25.
