Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 2

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has asked the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist the distant warning signal number two until further notice as the cyclonic storm ‘MICHAUNG’ over the Southwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas moved north-westwards and is likely to intensify further.

“Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone centre is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls, said the BMD special weather bulletin here today.

Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.

“All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice,” it added.
