Bangladesh Fintech Award received 28 innovations

The 2nd Bangladesh Fintech Award was held on August 26 by organizing a grand gala at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel in the capital, a press release said on Sunday.

 

Courtesy of Mastercard, hosted by Bikash Limited and in collaboration with Mutual Trust Bank, Awaya, Basis and The Daily Star, the award ceremony was initiated by Bangladesh FinTech Forum and organized by Bangladesh Brand Forum.

 

On this day, 28 fintech innovations were honored in 11 different categories defined in the fintech field. Out of which 14 innovations won the prestigious FinTech Award and 14 innovations were given Honorable Mention.

 

The 2nd edition of the award was held to accelerate the innovation of the fintech industry in the country and to inspire the organizations involved in the industry to keep pace with global developments.

 

Junaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest at the 2nd Bangladesh FinTech Awards.

 

There, Junaid Ahmed Palak said that in the last few years, Bangladesh has set several good examples in the expansion of the economy with the help of fintech. The role of fintech is essential in building a smart Bangladesh. We are working to expand the benefits of fintech beyond urban areas. Today’s event will bring together leaders from complementary sectors including finance to build a smart economy with the help of fintech.

 

The event received an unprecedented response from representatives and employees of the banking and finance sector of the country. The prestigious award was presented to the winners in the presence of around 500 individuals engaged in the fintech sector and other key sector representatives and experts.

 

Registration for awards in 11 categories is open from July 4 to August 3 this year. At this time, 123 nominations were submitted for the award from various institutions. 5 Grand Jury sessions were organized from 21 to 23 August to select the best fintech innovations among them. The final winners were then selected through a multi-faceted review and selection process by 20 respected category experts from the country’s banking and finance sector.

 

 

The judges for the jury session were Anees A Khan, Chairman, AAZ & Partners, Ghazi Yar Mohammad, Co-Founder & CEO, Dana Fintech, Gitanka D Dutta, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Business Officer, IFIC Bank Plc (SME & Retail), Raheel Ahmed, Founder, Ogrim, Telenor Health. Its Director of Finance Feroze Ahmed Khan, World Bank Consultant and Senior Researcher and Policy Analyst of IDEA Foundation Hussain A Samad, Managing Director and CEO of Celero Limited Rezaul Hossain, Head of Consumer of Standard Chartered Bangladesh Private and Business Banking Sabbir Ahmed and many others.
