BGMEA delegation visits LafargeHolcim’s Geocycle Project

A delegation from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), led by President Faruque Hassan, visited the Geocycle project at LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd’s (LHBL) Chhatak plant in Sunamganj on recently.

The delegation, which also included Vice President Miran Ali and Director Barrister Vidiya Amrit Khan, witnessed firsthand the exemplary practices in sustainable waste management.

The primary objective of this visit was to gain insights into sustainable waste management through the Geocycle project and to explore how its innovative approach can be adapted and implemented within the readymade garment (RMG) industry.

The LafargeHolcim Surma Plant, situated in Chhatak, is a leading cement manufacturing facility in Bangladesh. The distinctive feature of its Geocycle project lies in its ability to dispose of a wide range of non-recyclable wastes by utilizing them in kilns and harnessing the resulting heat to produce cement.
