He also urged the association to explore trade and investment opportunities as well as boost areas of co-operation between the UK and Bangladesh.

Faruque Hassan made the call during a meeting with BBCI President Bashir Ahmed who paid a courtesy visit to BGMEA PR office at Gulshan in the capital on Thursday (December 2.)

BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali, BBCCI North East Region President Mahtab Miah, Managing Director of Bengal Dutch International G.R. Choudhury and Chairman of Asian Tiger Capital Partners Ifty Islam were also present on the occasion.

The BGMEA President sought the support of BBCCI in encouraging British businessmen including Bangladeshis living in the UK to invest in various potential sectors of Bangladesh including high value-added and non-cotton textiles along.

He also urged BBCCI to encourage the Bangladeshi community in the UK to give preference to garments “made in Bangladesh” during their shopping and also present them as gifts to their foreign friends.

It would not only increase demand for Bangladeshi apparels in the UK market but also contribute to promoting “Made in Bangladesh” brand among the British citizens, he added.
