The inaugural event of the celebrations of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence has started.
Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has attended the program as the guest of honor.
Chaired by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the inaugural ceremony is attended by President Abdul Hamid, among others.
The event starting with the national anthem takes place in the National Parade Ground. The programme will be addressed by the two Presidents while recorded messages of three foreign dignitaries will be played.
The program will be followed by a musical soiree.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Bhutanese Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering will be attending the 10-day program in phases.
