Health authorities in Bangladesh have registered 48 more deaths and 1,327 new infections from Covid-19 in last 24 hours to Saturday morning.
With the latest figures, the country’s total Covid-19 death toll reached 26,880 while the number of total caseload reached 1528,542 so far, according to the daily handout issued by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS).
The current positivity rate stands at 7.03 percent as a total of 18,869 samples were tested across the country in last 24 hours.
The overall positivity rate stands at 16.58 percent while the death remains static at 1.76 percent, said the DGHS release.
At least 3,168 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,475,235 and the recovery rate is 96.51 percent.
Among the deaths reported today, 22 died in Dhaka division, 12 in Chattogram, four each in Rajshahi and Rangpur, two each in Khulna and Sylhet, and one each died in Barishal and Mymensingh divisions.
Of them, one was between 31-40 years, four between 41-50, 13 between 51-60, 17 between 61-70, nine between 71-80 and three between 81-90, and one between 91-100 years old, added the release.
The Covid-19 victims’ gender breakdown shows that 17,336 of the total deceased across the country were men and 9,544 were women.
The country’s maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
