The dream of winning the Asia Cup is now within reach. To fulfil their dream, the Bangladesh Wheelchair Cricket team is set to depart for Nepal today. The T20 Wheelchair Cricket Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to commence from October 4 in the Himalayan nation.
Like the previous edition, the International Wheelchair Cricket Asia Cup will feature teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
The event will kick off at Tribhuvan University Stadium in Nepal on October 4. The tournament’s opening match will see Bangladesh playing against the hosting Nepal. Organised jointly by Pakistan and Nepal, the final match of the tournament is scheduled to take place on October 9.
While the current champion Pakistan is prepared for a second consecutive win, the Bangladesh team hopes to utilise their experience of winning series in India and defeating India in the Tri-Nation Series.
The Bangladesh team’s participation in the tournament is overseen and supported by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director and the former captain for the national cricket team A.M. Naimur Rahman (Durjoy), MP. In addition to that, the group is backed by the entirety of ‘Zoober Pay.’ The team’s public relations are handled by Info Power Pvt. Ltd.
The Bangladesh squad for the tournament, under the leadership of captain M. Mohsin (wicket-keeper), includes Ripon Uddin (all-rounder), Sajjad Hossain (batsman), Robin Gayen (all-rounder), Liton Mridha (all-rounder), Swapan Dawan (bowler), Mohidul Islam (all-rounder), Morshed Alam (bowler), Ahadul Islam (batsman), Ujjwal Bairagi (all-rounder), Rajon Hossain (all-rounder), Roni Gayen (bowler), and Salman Yamin (batsman). Bangladesh will face Nepal on October 4. Next day Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will face India on October 7 and the next day the opposition will be Pakistan.
