Bangladesh national football team are likely to play two FIFA friendly matches against Afghanistan at home in September even though two more teams – Myanmar and Nepal – are also in Bangladesh Football Federation’s consideration. A match against Afghanistan in next September’s FIFA window was already fixed. The date of this match is fixed on September 7.
However, Buffa continued to try to make Afghanistan play two matches. They were also continuing to negotiate with some other countries as an alternative. This discussion was going on with some countries including Myanmar, Nepal, Laos.
Buff had planned to host either of them and play the match. However, as Afghanistan has agreed to play two matches, Buffafe does not have to think of any other options. Bangladesh will play the first match in the September window on September 4. That is, Bangladesh is confirmed to play two matches against Afghanistan on September 4 and 7.
BAF Vice-President and National Teams Committee Chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed confirmed the two matches against Afghanistan on Monday morning. However, FIFA has not yet decided where these two FIFA friendly matches will be played against Afghanistan.
The match is scheduled to be held at Sylhet District Stadium. The footballers of the national team have objection to play in Sylhet because the ground is not good. In the meantime, some footballers have informed the Buff president about that objection. Due to which the opponent and date have been decided but the venue of the match has not been finalised.
BAFF is thinking of Chittagong MA Aziz Stadium and Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka as alternatives. If Bashundhara Kings Arena is approved as an international venue, two matches can be played there. Buff has already started working on whether the World Cup qualifying home match against Maldives in October can be played at the Chittagong MA Stadium.
A delegation from BAFUF will soon visit Chittagong MA Aziz Stadium to explore the possibility of playing international matches there.
